With a career spanning over two decades, Corey has made a lasting impact as a recording artist, entrepreneur, and advocate for his hometown of Cahokia Heights.

A Musical Legacy: Flex 618 and Ice Burg

As a Recording Artist for Adoor Entertainment/Atlantic Records, Corey Van Dickerson—under his stage name Flex 618—has made waves in the music industry. His early recognition came in the early 2000s, performing on a television showcase at the Village Theater. Corey’s self-taught production skills allowed him to release underground projects like Only Time Will Tell and Undisputed, which earned him a dedicated following.

In 2002, he collaborated with Troy Shefelt of Snyper Records, further solidifying his position in the industry. During this time, Corey also worked with Unladylike, helping the group create a buzz in Chicago’s music scene. His 2005 release, Street Soldier, showcased his lyrical prowess and versatility.

In 2006, Corey became a partner with Hustle Block Entertainment and joined Young Drew’s Beat Boxerz Productions, dominating online instrumental-selling platforms worldwide. Under his Ice Burg persona, Corey produced the hit single Clutched with his group, The HitMen, which earned a feature in In-box Magazine. His 2006 club anthem Make a Move became a Midwest sensation, cementing his stage presence.

By 2007, Corey dropped the Money and Murda Mix-tape, mixed by DJ Dirty Red, which further showcased his ability to captivate audiences. Throughout his career, he has balanced his creative pursuits with his commitment to innovation and authenticity.

Business Leadership and Advocacy

Corey’s leadership extends beyond music. As the founder and CEO of Cahokia Source, LLC, he built a trusted news platform to amplify the voices of Cahokia Heights residents. His transition from a Pre-K educator to a full-time advocate for his community reflects his commitment to empowering future generations.
